The Sri Lanka Accreditation Board for Conformity Assessment (SLAB) is the National Accreditation Authority for Sri Lanka established under the Act No. 32 of 2005. The Board functions as an autonomous body under the purview of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Research. Strengthening of the Quality Infrastructure and conformity assessment procedures in Sri Lanka and enhancing the recognition and acceptance of products and services in international and domestic markets are the main objectives of SLAB activities. The financial stability of SLAB is assured through sums of money voted by Parliament of Sri Lanka. SLAB earns substantial amount of money through the services it renders to its clients. read more

Accreditation

Accreditation is a third party attestation related to a conformity assessment body conveying formal demonstration of its competence to carry out the tasks of conformity assessment. Accreditation is made available to different conformity assessment bodies namely Testing & Calibration Laboratories, Medical / Clinical Laboratories, Certification & Inspection Bodies and Bodies Operating Certification of Persons.

Accreditation assures impartiality, credibility and transparency of conformity assessments.
