Testing and Calibration laboratories are accredited based on the ISO/IEC 17025 standard. It covers management system requirements, technical competence of staff, metrological traceability of equipment, and validity of testing methods.
SLAB accreditation is typically granted for a period of 3 years. During this period, surveillance assessments are conducted annually to ensure ongoing compliance, followed by a re-assessment before expiration.
Laboratories can apply for scope extensions by submitting the relevant application form along with documented procedures and technical validation records for the new test parameters. Extension assessments may be done during surveillance or as a separate audit.
