Assessment Roadmap
Achieving official SLAB accreditation involves a rigorous 8-stage verification roadmap to ensure competence, compliance, and quality control systems.
Application for Accreditation
The Conformity Assessment Body (CAB) submits a formal application detailing their scope, equipment, and staff qualifications, along with documentation of their quality systems.
Acknowledgement & Scrutiny
SLAB technical staff acknowledge the application and conduct a detailed scrutiny to verify adequacy of information, scope details, and conformity to submission requirements.
Document & Record Review
A comprehensive review of the CAB's quality manual, standard operating procedures, and technical documentation is conducted by an appointed lead assessor.
Pre-Assessment Audit
An optional or mandatory preliminary site audit is carried out to check the readiness of the laboratory or body, highlighting gaps prior to the main assessment.
Initial Assessment
A full, on-site/remote audit is executed by an audit team of technical experts, testing the competence of procedures, staff capabilities, and overall management compliance.
Recommendation Phase
Based on the audit report and closure of any non-conformities (NCs), the assessment team submits a formal recommendation to the SLAB Accreditation Committee.
Grant of Accreditation
The Accreditation Committee reviews the file and findings. Upon satisfaction, they officially grant approval and register the CAB in the national registry.
Issue of Accreditation Certificate
SLAB issues the official accreditation certificate and detailed scope of accreditation, enabling the body to declare conformity and use the SLAB logo.
