Guidelines, prerequisites, and policies for SLAB training programme participants.
General Instructions for All Participants
The following guidelines apply to all participants attending SLAB training programmes. Please read them carefully before and during your training.
1. Registration and Confirmation
- Registration must be completed through the official SLAB training portal or as directed by the Training Division.
- Confirmation of participation will be sent via email upon successful registration and payment verification.
- Participants must bring a valid photo ID and the confirmation email for verification on the first day.
- Substitute participants may be nominated with prior written notice (minimum 3 working days before the programme start date).
2. Attendance and Punctuality
- Full attendance is mandatory for certification. Participants must attend all sessions to receive a certificate of completion.
- Registration begins 30 minutes before the scheduled start time on the first day.
- Late arrivals exceeding 15 minutes may be denied entry at the discretion of the course coordinator.
- Participants must sign the attendance register at each session (morning and afternoon).
3. Code of Conduct
- Maintain professional conduct throughout the training programme.
- Respect trainers, fellow participants, and SLAB staff at all times.
- Mobile phones must be on silent mode during sessions. Emergency calls may be taken outside the training room.
- Recording (audio/video) of sessions is strictly prohibited without prior written permission from SLAB.
- Confidential information shared during training must not be disclosed to third parties.
4. Training Materials and Resources
- Training materials (handouts, presentations, reference documents) will be provided in digital format via email or the training portal.
- Materials are for personal use only and must not be reproduced, distributed, or shared without SLAB's written consent.
- Participants are encouraged to bring laptops/tablets for note-taking and accessing digital materials.
5. Assessment and Certification
- Some programmes include assessments (written tests, practical exercises, or assignments) as part of the certification requirements.
- A minimum score of 70% is required to pass assessments, unless otherwise specified for a particular programme.
- Certificates of completion/attendance will be issued within 10 working days after the programme ends.
- Certificates will be sent via registered post or can be collected from the SLAB office.
6. Payment and Refund Policy
- Full payment must be received before the programme commencement date.
- Cancellation requests received more than 7 working days before the start date: 100% refund.
- Cancellation requests received 3-7 working days before the start date: 50% refund.
- Cancellation requests received less than 3 working days before the start date: No refund (substitute participant permitted).
- No-shows are not eligible for refunds.
7. Health and Safety
- Participants must inform coordinators of any medical conditions or special requirements at registration.
- Emergency exits and assembly points will be indicated at the venue.
- First aid facilities are available at all training venues.
- Participants feeling unwell during training should notify the coordinator immediately.

Programme-Specific Instructions
The following additional instructions apply to specific training categories. Please refer to the section relevant to your registered programme.
Assessor Training Programmes
- Pre-course reading material will be emailed 2 weeks before the programme. Completion is mandatory.
- Participants must bring a copy of the relevant ISO/IEC standard (e.g., ISO/IEC 17025, ISO/IEC 17020, ISO/IEC 17065).
- Practical assessment exercises require a laptop with spreadsheet software (MS Excel or equivalent).
- Witnessed assessments may be scheduled on separate dates; details will be communicated during training.
Laboratory Quality Management (ISO/IEC 17025)
- Familiarity with basic statistical concepts (mean, standard deviation, uncertainty) is recommended.
- Participants should have access to their laboratory's quality manual and procedures for reference.
- Case studies will use real laboratory scenarios; confidentiality of participant data is maintained.
Online/Hybrid Programmes
- Stable internet connection (minimum 5 Mbps) and a device with camera, microphone, and speakers are required.
- Test your Zoom/Teams access 1 day before the programme. Technical support is available via the coordinator.
- Keep your camera on throughout all sessions for attendance verification.
- Use your full name as the display name in the meeting platform.
- Breakout room exercises require active participation; mute only when not speaking.
Important Notes
- SLAB reserves the right to cancel, postpone, or change the venue/date of any programme with prior notice.
- In case of programme cancellation by SLAB, full refunds will be issued.
- Certificates are issued only to participants who meet all attendance and assessment requirements.
- Fraudulent use or alteration of SLAB certificates is a serious offence and will be reported to relevant authorities.
- Feedback forms will be distributed at the end of each programme. Your input helps us improve future trainings.
